July 1, 2017 – Michael R. Martin, CLM, president of Cedar Eden Environmental, spoke today at the Mount Arab Preserve Association’s annual meeting hdeld in Tupper Lake, NY. Michael noted that this was the 26th year of his participation in monitoring and lake management for the MAPA lakes and commended the attendees for their dedication to lake stewardship.
“Aside from family, a few close friends and my marriage by a few years, this is the longest relationship I have had,” Michael quipped.
Michael summarized the findings of the 2016 report and discussed historical trends and the impact of land use and climate on the water quality of the MAPA lakes, Mount Arab Lake and Eagle Crag Lake. He went on to stress the importance of vigilance in keeping invasive species out of the lakes, with particular emphasis on the new threat, spiny water flea, which has been observed in area lakes.
