Posted by I’ve often struggled with the native/nonnative/invasive dividing line when it comes to plants. For instance, so many of what we call roadside wild flowers are “escapes” from the 1800s. Well, now with climate change the line is about to become blurrier. Adaptation is what plants and animals do. This article discusses climate driven range shifts that plant species will be experiencing in the context of invasive species. Some of what is said in the article might be a bit radical. But, in the end, we humans have to accept that the natural world is never a constant. Rivers move, aquatic plants spread.
