Extension of Comment Period for the Definition of “Waters of the United States”

As detailed in a former NALMS communication from August 14th, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Army are proposing a rule to rescind the Clean Water Rule and re-codify the regulatory text that existed prior to 2015 defining the Clean Water Act “waters of the United States” or WOTUS. This was filed in the Federal Register on July 27, 2017.

A public comment forum is now open and has been extended to September 27, 2017, to allow additional time for stakeholders to weigh in. NALMS members and all those interested in protecting the water resources of the United States are encouraged to provide comments during this period of time.
