Nature Conservancy Seasonal Job: Water Chestnut Field Coordinator

The Vermont State Chapter of the Nature Conservancy has announced a seasonal job opening as Water Chestnut Field Coordinator (Conservation Practitioner II).

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt / Short-term Seasonal (Jun. 23 – Sep. 5, 2008)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Water Chestnut Field Coordinator participates in water chestnut identification and hand-pulling control techniques. This may include one or more of the following functions:
• Training volunteers in water chestnut identification and hand-pulling control techniques
• Organizing, coordinating, leading volunteer workdays in wetland sites
• Compiling and entering data on volunteer hours and water chestnut harvest
• May assist in recruiting and thanking volunteers, writing letters, posting flyers, placing public service announcements, making presentations, and coordinating with summer youth camps

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 1 year college coursework in a natural resources field
• Training in science-related field or related experience in land management
• Experience performing physical work
• Valid driver's license
• Experience driving a pickup truck and towing a canoe trailer
• First aid and CPR certification, or willingness to become certified
